How it works

How to create a vCard QR code

  1. 1

    Fill in your details

Add your name and the ways people should reach you — mobile, email, website, company and job title. Only fill in what you want to share.

  2. 2

    Style and download

Match your brand colors and download a PNG for digital use or an SVG for your printer — SVGs stay sharp on any card size.

  3. 3

    Test it on two phones

Scan with an iPhone and an Android phone and check every field before you order a print run.

Generated entirely in your browser — nothing you type is uploaded.

What is a vCard QR code?

vCard is the standard file format phones and email apps use for contact cards. A vCard QR code stores a complete vCard — name, phone numbers, email, company, website, address and a note — inside the code. Scanning it shows a contact preview with an “Add to contacts” button.

Because the details live in the code itself, a static vCard QR code works offline and never expires. This generator builds it in your browser, so your personal details are never uploaded.

Static vCard or dynamic vCard?

Every field you add makes a static code denser — more, smaller squares — which is harder to scan when printed small on a business card. Keep it to the essentials, or use error correction “L” or “M” to keep it lighter.

A dynamic vCard from QR-10 encodes only a short link, so the code stays simple at any size. Scanning opens a clean contact page with a “Save contact” button, and you can edit your details whenever they change — the printed cards keep working.

Use cases

Where a vCard QR code works best

  • Business cards

Put the code on the back of your card so new contacts save you in one scan instead of typing.

  • Email signatures and slides

Add it to the last slide of a talk or a PDF proposal so people can keep your details.

  • Name badges and lanyards

Conference attendees can swap details by scanning each other’s badges.

  • Real estate and sales

Add it to “For sale” boards, brochures and leave-behinds so leads reach you directly.

  • Clinics and service providers

Let patients and clients save the right phone number and address from an appointment card.

  • Trade shows and events

Print it on your booth signage so visitors leave with your contact saved.

Best practices

Tips for business-card QR codes

  • Share only what you’d print

Your mobile, email and website are usually enough. Fewer fields means a cleaner, faster-scanning code.

  • Use full international numbers

Write numbers with the country code (+91, +1, +44…) so they dial correctly from anywhere.

  • Mind the minimum size

On a business card, print a static vCard at least 2.5 × 2.5 cm (1 inch). Dense codes need more room.

  • Download the SVG for print

Printers can scale an SVG to any size without blurring. Ask for at least 4 modules of white margin.

  • Tell people what it is

A short line like “Scan to save my contact” makes people far more likely to scan.

  • Check every field after scanning

Make sure your name, numbers and email appear in the right fields on both iPhone and Android.

FAQ

vCard QR code questions

Yes. Create and download as many vCard QR codes as you like in PNG or SVG — no sign-up, no watermark and no expiry.

Modern iPhones and Android phones can read vCard QR codes with the built-in camera or Google Lens and save the contact in a couple of taps. Most third-party QR apps support vCards too.

Name, company, job title, mobile and work phone, email, website, postal address and a short note. Leave out anything you do not want to share.

Not in a static vCard — photos are far too large to fit in a QR code. You can still style the code itself with your brand colors.

Every field adds data, and more data means more squares. Remove fields you do not need, lower the error correction to L or M, or use a dynamic vCard, which encodes only a short link.

Not a static one — the details are part of the pattern. A dynamic vCard on QR-10 can be edited anytime, and the printed code keeps working.

Not when you use this free generator: the code is built in your browser and nothing you type is uploaded. If you create a dynamic vCard in a QR-10 account, your details are stored so the contact page can be shown, and you can edit or delete them at any time.
