How it works

How to make a phone number QR code

  1. 1

    Enter your number

Include the country code, e.g. +91 98765 43210 or +1 555 123 4567, so it dials correctly from any phone.

  2. 2

    Download the code

PNG for screens and documents, SVG for print. Add a label like “Scan to call us”.

  3. 3

    Test it

Scan with your phone: it should open the dialer with the full number. Nothing is called until you tap.

Generated entirely in your browser — nothing you type is uploaded.

How a phone QR code works

The code contains a standard tel: link with your number. Phone cameras recognise it and offer to call; tapping opens the dialer with the number filled in. The person still chooses to press Call, so nobody is dialled by accident.

It works on iPhone and Android with the built-in camera, needs no internet connection to read, and never expires.

Why include the country code?

A local number such as 098765 43210 only works from phones in the same country. In international format (+91 98765 43210) it works from anywhere, including tourists and customers using a foreign SIM. We remove spaces, dashes and brackets for you.

Use cases

Where phone QR codes get calls

  • Vans and vehicles

A code on the van door is easier than reading a number at a traffic light.

  • Trades and repairs

Plumbers, electricians and mechanics on stickers left after a job.

  • Real estate boards

“Scan to call the agent” on For Sale and To Let signs.

  • Shop windows

Calls after hours or for stock questions, straight from the window.

  • Clinics and helplines

Booking and emergency numbers on posters and leaflets.

  • Lost and found

Labels on keys, luggage and equipment: “If found, scan to call”.

Best practices

Tips for phone QR codes

  • Also print the number

Some people prefer to dial, and it shows exactly who they are calling.

  • Say when you answer

“Call 9am–6pm” on the flyer avoids missed calls and frustrated customers.

  • Consider WhatsApp or SMS

For bookings and quotes, a message code can be easier for customers than a call.

  • Size it for distance

On a van or sign, make the code about 1/10 of the distance people scan from.

Static or dynamic?

A dynamic phone code survives a number change

A static code is fixed to one number forever. If your number changes, every sticker, van wrap and sign stops reaching you. A dynamic code lets you switch the number in seconds and counts the scans from each placement.

  • Free static phone code
  • Change the number without reprinting
  • Scan analytics per flyer, van or sign
