How it works

How to make an email QR code

  1. 1

    Enter your email address

The address the email should go to, e.g. hello@yourbusiness.com.

  2. 2

    Add a subject and message

Optional, but they tell you where the enquiry came from: “Enquiry from the spring flyer”.

  3. 3

    Download and test

Scan it with your phone: your mail app should open a new email ready to send.

Generated entirely in your browser — nothing you type is uploaded.

How an email QR code works

The code contains a standard “mailto” link with your address and, if you add them, a subject and message. Scanning it opens the phone’s email app (Mail, Gmail, Outlook…) with a new email filled in. The person can edit it and then taps send.

Because it opens their own email app, you get a real email address to reply to, and nobody has to retype your address correctly.

Use the subject to track enquiries

Give each placement its own subject line, like “Website enquiry: trade show” or “Booking: table card”. Your inbox then tells you which flyer or poster brings in the most emails, even with a static code.

Use cases

Ways to use an email QR code

  • Shop and service enquiries

“Scan to ask us a question” on windows, vans and flyers.

  • Bookings

Request a booking or quote with the details pre-filled.

  • Customer support

On packaging and manuals, with the product name in the subject.

  • Job adverts

Applications straight to HR with the role in the subject line.

  • Offices and buildings

Report a problem to facilities from a sign on the wall.

  • Feedback

A suggestion box that lands in your inbox.

Best practices

Tips for an email QR code

  • Keep the message short

A long pre-filled body makes a dense code that’s harder to scan. A subject line is often enough.

  • Use a shared inbox

hello@ or support@ survives staff changes better than a personal address.

  • Tell people what to write

“Include your order number” saves a round of back-and-forth.

  • Show the address too

Print it under the code for people who prefer to type it.

Static or dynamic?

Inbox changing someday? Make it dynamic

A static email code is tied to one address forever. If the address or the person behind it changes, every printed copy goes to the wrong place. A dynamic code lets you switch to a new address or a contact form anytime, and counts the scans.

  • Free static code with subject and message
  • Switch address without reprinting
  • Scan counts per flyer and place
