How it works

How to make a Google Maps QR code

  1. 1

    Find your place

Paste a link from Google Maps → Share → Copy link for the exact listing, or type your address or coordinates.

  2. 2

    Check the preview

Scan the code on screen: it should open the right place, not a similarly named business across town.

  3. 3

    Download and print

Use the SVG for signs, flyers and invitations, with a short label like “Scan for directions”.

Generated entirely in your browser — nothing you type is uploaded.

Which location should you use?

The best option is the share link of your Google Maps listing. It opens your business profile, with photos, reviews, opening hours and directions, not just a pin. Find it by searching for your business in Google Maps and tapping Share.

For a place without a listing, such as a wedding venue entrance, a site gate or a parking area, enter exact coordinates. In Google Maps, long-press the spot and copy the numbers that appear, for example 12.9716, 77.5946. An address works too, but Google picks the match, so check where it lands.

Does it work on iPhone?

Yes. The code holds a standard Google Maps link. On a phone with Google Maps installed it opens in the app; otherwise it opens Google Maps in the browser, where people can get directions or switch to their own maps app.

Use cases

Where location QR codes help

  • Shops and offices

On flyers, ads and business cards, so new customers find the door.

  • Weddings and events

On invitations and signs: the venue, the parking or the after-party.

  • Restaurants

On takeaway menus and delivery bags, and for a second branch.

  • Hotels and rentals

In booking emails and welcome cards: the entrance, parking or nearby sights.

  • Real estate

On boards and brochures, pointing at the property itself.

  • Deliveries and pick-ups

The loading bay or pick-up point that addresses get wrong.

Best practices

Tips for location QR codes

  • Use your listing link

It shows your reviews and hours as well as the map, and always points at the right business.

  • Coordinates for exact spots

Gates, entrances and car parks rarely match a street address.

  • Say what it does

“Scan for directions” next to the code gets more scans than a code on its own.

  • Test from the street

Check the route Google suggests actually leads to your entrance.

Static or dynamic?

Moving one day? A dynamic code moves with you

A static location code points at one place forever. If you move, every printed flyer and sign sends people to the old address. A dynamic code lets you change the location in seconds, or open a business page with your hours, phone and directions, and counts every scan.

  • Free static Google Maps code
  • Change the location without reprinting
  • Scan analytics by day, city and device
