How it works

How to create a UPI QR code

  1. 1

    Enter your UPI ID

Find it in your UPI app’s profile (it looks like name@okhdfcbank or 98xxxxxx10@ybl) and add the name customers should see.

  2. 2

    Add an amount (optional)

Leave it empty for a general “pay me” code, or set a fixed amount and note for a specific product, fee or invoice.

  3. 3

    Download and test with ₹1

Download the PNG or SVG, then pay yourself ₹1 from a different UPI app to check the name and ID before you print.

Generated entirely in your browser — nothing you type is uploaded.

What is a UPI QR code?

A UPI QR code contains a standard UPI payment link (upi://pay?pa=your-id&pn=your-name…) defined by NPCI, the organisation that runs UPI. Every UPI app understands it: scanning the code opens a payment screen with your UPI ID, name and — if you set one — the amount and note already filled in.

The payer still confirms the payment and enters their UPI PIN in their own app. Money moves directly from their bank account to yours. QR-10 never sees, holds or processes the payment, and charges nothing for it.

Personal UPI ID or business account?

A code for your personal UPI ID is ideal for freelancers, tutors, home businesses, small stalls and collecting money from friends. Personal UPI accounts have transaction limits and aren’t designed for high-volume shop payments.

If you run a shop that takes many payments a day, consider a merchant (business) UPI account from your bank or a payments app. Those come with settlement reports and payment-alert speakers — and you can still design and print your QR code here.

A safety note for your customers

Scanning a UPI QR code is only ever for paying. Nobody ever needs to scan a code or enter a UPI PIN to receive money — that is a common scam. Displaying your payee name clearly helps customers confirm they are paying the right person before entering their PIN.

Use cases

Ways people use UPI QR codes

  • Shops, stalls and kiranas

Stick it on the counter so customers pay in seconds — no change, no card machine.

  • Invoices and bills

Add a code with a fixed amount and invoice number to every bill so clients pay the exact sum.

  • Tutors and coaching classes

Print it on the fee card or share it on WhatsApp so parents can pay monthly fees easily.

  • Deliveries and home services

Delivery riders, plumbers and electricians can show it on a card and get paid on the spot.

  • Donations and temples

Collect donations for causes, events and religious places without handling cash.

  • Splitting costs

Collect money for trips, gifts or society maintenance by sharing one code with the group.

Best practices

Tips for a UPI QR code customers trust

  • Always show your name

Fill in the payee name — and print it next to the code — so customers can match it with what their app shows.

  • Test with a small payment

Before printing, pay yourself ₹1 from another app to confirm your UPI ID is correct.

  • Use a fixed amount only when it’s fixed

A general code (no amount) works for any purchase. Use fixed amounts for set fees, products or invoices.

  • Protect printed codes

Laminate counter codes and check them occasionally — fraudsters sometimes paste their own code over a shop’s.

  • Print it large and clear

At least 5 × 5 cm for a counter, with strong dark-on-light contrast so it scans in poor light.

  • Display the logos customers look for

“Pay with any UPI app” reassures people that Google Pay, PhonePe and Paytm all work.

Static or dynamic?

Should a UPI QR code be dynamic? Usually not

UPI apps’ built-in scanners read the payment details directly from the code, so a UPI code should stay static — exactly what this free generator makes. Where dynamic QR codes shine for shops is everything around the payment: a menu or price list you can update, a one-scan link to your Google review page, or offers on flyers whose scans you can measure.

  • Static UPI code: free, works with every UPI app
  • Dynamic codes for menus, offers and reviews you can edit
  • Scan analytics show which flyers and counters work
