QR code tracking and scan analytics
Find out which flyer, table, poster or product actually gets scanned. Every QR-10 dynamic code records its scans, so you can see what works and when, and spend more on it.
Full analytics on the Free plan, with no scan limits and no time limit on history.
How it works
How to track QR code scans
- 1
Create a dynamic code
Tracking needs a dynamic code: scans pass through its short link, where they are counted. Static codes can’t be tracked by anyone.
- 2
Use one code per placement
Make a separate code for each flyer, table, window or product, or put them in a folder per campaign.
- 3
Watch the dashboard
See scans as they happen, compare codes and export the data whenever you need it.
What you can see
Every scan, broken down
Scans over time
Total scans by day for any date range, to spot what a campaign or a new placement changed.
Unique scans
How many different people scanned, not just how many times the code was scanned.
When people scan
A day-of-week by hour-of-day heatmap, to time offers, staffing and posts.
Devices and apps
Phone, tablet or desktop; iOS or Android; and the browser or scanner app used.
Countries and cities
Where scans come from, for codes on packaging, travel and multi-city campaigns.
Languages
The language each scanner’s phone is set to, useful for translated pages.
Per code and per campaign
Compare codes side by side, or group them in folders for each client or campaign.
CSV export
Download every scan with its time, code, device and location for spreadsheets or reports.
Email reports
A weekly or monthly summary in your inbox, without logging in.
How QR code tracking works
A dynamic QR code opens a short link such as qr-10.com/r/aB3dE7k. When someone scans it, QR-10 records the scan (the time, the type of device and its settings) and immediately sends them on to your destination. The visitor sees your page as usual.
Static QR codes contain the destination itself and never touch a server you control, so no tool can count their scans. If you want numbers, print a dynamic code.
Measuring which placement works
The most useful thing tracking does is compare. Give each placement its own code: the shop window and the counter, the Tuesday and Saturday flyer drops, the table tents and the receipts. After a few weeks you know which ones people scan, and when.
Look at unique scans as well as total scans. One person scanning a code five times is one interested customer; five people scanning it once each is five.
Clean numbers, respectful of privacy
Link previews and crawlers are filtered out, so you see people rather than bots. We never store scanners’ IP addresses: a scan is recognised as unique using a one-way, salted fingerprint that can’t be turned back into an address, and location comes from network data at the time of the scan.
Scanners don’t need an account or an app, and nothing is installed on their phone.

FAQ
QR code tracking questions
Yes, if it is a dynamic code. Scans pass through its short link, which counts them before sending people to your page. Static codes can’t be tracked.
Yes. Full scan analytics are included on QR-10’s Free plan, for 3 dynamic codes, with unlimited scans and no limit on history.
Total scans count every scan. Unique scans count each person once per code, so repeat scans by the same phone don’t inflate the number.
No, and no honest tool can. You see anonymous data such as the time, device, language and approximate location, never names, phone numbers or exact positions.
Yes. Download a CSV of every scan for any date range, or get weekly or monthly email reports.
Not noticeably. The scan is recorded and the visitor is forwarded in a fraction of a second.
