How it works
How to make an Instagram QR code
- 1
Enter your username
Type your @username, or paste the link from Instagram → your profile → Share profile → Copy link.
- 2
Style it
Pick colors that match your brand. Keep the code dark on a light background so every phone can read it.
- 3
Download and test
Download the PNG for print or social, or the SVG for big signs, and scan it with your phone before printing.
Generated entirely in your browser — nothing you type is uploaded.
What is an Instagram QR code?
It’s a QR code that opens your Instagram profile. On a phone with Instagram installed, scanning it opens the profile right in the app, one tap from Follow. Without the app, it opens in the browser.
Instagram can show its own QR code too (Profile → Share profile), which is handy for showing someone in person. A generated code is better for print: you get a clean, high-resolution PNG or SVG in your brand colors, sized for anything from a business card to a poster.
Your profile, a post or a reel
Most people link the profile, because it never changes. You can also paste the link to a specific post or reel, for example the one with today’s menu or a product launch. Just remember that a static code always points to the same link, so if you want to change which post it opens later, use a dynamic code.
Use cases
Where to put an Instagram QR code
Shop windows and counters
“Follow us for new arrivals” next to the till turns walk-ins into followers.
Cafés and restaurants
On table cards and menus, so diners can tag you and see your specials.
Packaging and tags
Inside the box or on a swing tag, for styling ideas and reviews from real customers.
Salons and studios
At the mirror or reception, so clients can browse your latest work.
Events and pop-ups
On banners and badges, so people find the event account and your posts.
Business cards
A small code on the back saves typing a username that’s easy to misspell.

Tips for an Instagram QR code people scan
Say what they’ll get
“Scan for today’s specials” beats a bare code. Tell people why to follow.
Show your @username too
Print it under the code for anyone who prefers to search.
Make the profile public
A private account shows a “This account is private” screen, which loses most visitors.
Keep it big enough
At least 2 × 2 cm on cards and 5 × 5 cm on counter signs, with a clear margin around it.
Static or dynamic?
Static is fine for your profile. Dynamic tells you if it works
Your profile link rarely changes, so this free static code works forever. A dynamic code adds what Instagram can’t: how many people scanned the poster versus the flyer, and the freedom to point the same printed code at a new campaign, reel or account later.
- Free static code for your profile
- Scan counts by location, device and day
- Change the destination without reprinting
