How it works
How to make a QR code for your business card
- 1
Choose what it opens
A contact card saves your name, number and email straight to their phone. A website or LinkedIn link shows more about you.
- 2
Fill in your details
Use international numbers (+91…, +1…) so the card works for anyone. Leave out fields you don’t need: a shorter code prints smaller.
- 3
Download and test
Use the SVG for print. Scan a test print with an iPhone and an Android phone before ordering 500 cards.
Generated entirely in your browser — nothing you type is uploaded.
Contact card, website or LinkedIn: which to choose
A contact card (vCard) is the classic choice: one scan and your name, company, title, phone, email and website appear on their phone, ready to save. It works offline and needs no app, which makes it ideal for trade shows and meetings.
A website or LinkedIn link suits you better if you want people to see your work, a portfolio or your experience first. Many people print a contact card code on the back of the card and their website as text on the front.
How big should the code be on a card?
A standard card is 85 × 55 mm (3.5 × 2 in), and people scan it from about 15 cm away. A short link needs about 2 cm; a full contact card holds more data and needs about 3 cm to scan easily. Leave a white margin around the code, and don’t print it over a photo or texture.
A dynamic code keeps the code small however many details you add, because it only stores a short link to your contact page. You can also change your number or job title later without reprinting the cards.

Tips for business card QR codes
Add a short label
“Scan to save my contact” tells people what the code does and makes them more likely to scan.
Keep it at least 2 cm wide
And about 3 cm for a full contact card. Use the SVG so the printer gets a sharp file.
Use dark on light
Black or a dark brand color on a white or light card. Avoid foil, gloss and gold codes.
Only include what you want shared
A personal mobile or home address on a card goes to everyone who scans it.
Static or dynamic?
A dynamic code keeps every card up to date
A static code stores your details in the code itself, so a new number or job title means reprinting. A dynamic code opens a mobile contact page you can edit anytime, with a “Save contact” button, and shows how many people scanned your card.
- Free static contact, website or LinkedIn code
- Edit your details without reprinting
- Scan counts from every event and meeting

A contact card if you want people to save your details instantly; your website, portfolio or LinkedIn if you want them to learn more about you first.
At least 2 × 2 cm for a short link, and about 3 × 3 cm for a full contact card, plus a white margin around it.
Not with a static code: the details are stored in the code itself. A dynamic QR-10 code opens a contact page you can edit anytime.
